Medical metal hypersensitivity test
"...It is useful to perform the MELISA test before the implantation of orthopedic prostheses or dental implants!"
The Melisa® test provides some relevant information regarding the patient's hypersensitivity to some metals, those described at the following link: www.melisa.org/metal-exposure/testing-panels
The scientific principle on which the MELISA Test is based is that of delayed lymphocyte hypersensitivity type IV° which is described in detail here. Further evidence on the impact of certain metals for medical use can be found at the following link: https://www.ceic.eu/allergie-ai-metalli/
An important FDA study, which you can view here, describes the effects and possible health impacts of some medical-grade metals. Another important scientific contribution emerges from the study that can be viewed here
More in-depth information regarding this particular test can be found on the official website of the www.melisa.org or info pazienti MELISA® Test
" Methacrylates...
MELISA® Test also provides the ability to analyze any hypersensitivity to methacrylates, a class of compounds used in the production of orthopedic prostheses. At the bottom of the test booking form, you'll find the following acronyms that distinguish them:
- MMA : methyl methacrylate;
- HEMA : hydroxyethylene methacrylate;
- TEGMA : triethylene glycol dimethacrylate;
- BisGMA : bisphenol A-glycidyl methacrylate
TARGETLAB, in partnership with the English organization MELISA®, takes care of the promotion, marketing and logistics at national level (Italy) for the MELISA® Test, informing and guiding patients to the nearest diagnostic centers to perform the test.
You can view a sample MELISA® Test report here, if you are interested you can fill out the information request questionnaire in the "Support" section of this site. You will be contacted promptly.
